Appointment Policy

Emergency cases are received 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week and on holidays, on a walk-in basis or with a phone call just prior to your arrival.

If your veterinarian has referred you and your pet for consult with one of our surgical, critical care, internal medicine or dermatology specialists, please call between 8 am and 5 pm weekdays and one of our team liaisons will schedule a consultation appointment for you. If you need a referral, please contact your primary care veterinarian and inquire about a referral.

We make a sincere effort to see each client at their scheduled time. If you are unable to make your scheduled appointment, please call us as early as possible, to reschedule and to make this appointment time available to another patient.

Even though we make every effort to make our patients feel comfortable during visits, they may be a little uneasy about new people, new surroundings and other pets. This is one of the reasons we ask you to restrain your pet. We request that animals be placed on a leash or in pet carriers before entering the waiting room.

Patient Arrival Policy

For the safety of all pets and pet owners who visit Southern Oregon Veterinary Specialty Center, we request that all animals arrive either on a leash or in an appropriate pet carrier.

Your pet’s care is our primary concern. When you arrive, a trained staff member will quickly assess your pet’s condition. If your pet is unstable, he/she will be taken to be examined by a SOVSC doctor immediately. While your pet is being examined, our client coordinator will assist you in filling out the patient information form. The doctor will meet with you once they have completed a thorough exam, to discuss further treatment or diagnostic recommendations. The doctor will also provide an estimate of costs associated with those recommendations.

While your pet is in our care, we will communicate with you and your primary care veterinarian regularly regarding your pet’s medical condition and progress.

Payment Policy

Payment is due in full at the time services are rendered. If your pet is being admitted to the hospital for any diagnostics or treatment, a deposit for the majority of the low-end of the estimate is required. For your convenience, we accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Cash and CareCredit (we apologize that we are unable to accept American Express or personal checks).
