Southern Oregon Veterinary Specialty Center is a referral-based, surgery and emergency care animal hospital. We encourage you to form a relationship with a primary care veterinarian in your area. Your veterinarian will refer you to SOVSC if your pet requires advanced medical attention. SOVSC accepts patients with a medical emergency, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, without a veterinary referral. If you need a referral, please call (541) 282-7711.

Southern Oregon Veterinary Specialty Center is a referral-based, specialty, and emergency care animal hospital. We encourage you to establish care with a family veterinarian in your area. Your veterinarian will refer you to Southern Oregon Veterinarian Specialty Center if your pet requires advanced medical care. We see emergency patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week, without a veterinary referral. If you need a referral, please call (541) 282-7711.

If your pet requires emergency care, no appointment is required. Please call ahead if possible, so we can prepare for your arrival. Referred, non-emergency or elective surgeries and procedures do require an appointment. Call (541) 282-7711 to schedule an appointment for your pet. Please call (541) 282-7711 if your pet has a non-emergency medical need and you do not have a primary care veterinarian.

Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Internal medicine consultations are also available on most Saturday’s by appointment.

We are available 24 hours daily. Clients may request refills by calling the office at (541) 282-7711. However, because some refills may require a doctor's approval or special compounding, please anticipate a 24-hour lead-time for approval and preparation of your prescription. We will do our best to accommodate each request in a timely manner.

We do not have a payment plan and payment is due at the time of service. For your convenience, we do accept, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Cash, and CareCredit (we apologize that we are unable to accept American Express or personal checks).

We encourage owners to visit pets who are hospitalized. Scheduled visiting time helps our doctors and staff to monitor and perform scheduled treatments on all pets in the hospital. We will try to accommodate family visits during our regular visiting hours listed below however since we also receive emergencies 24-hours daily, we may need to adjust times.  Additionally, the doctor may consult with each owner individually.

Visiting hours are: 10:00 am to 11:00 am – 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Yes. Please let us know ahead of time when you want to visit your pet, so we can prepare an area away from the other animals, if possible, for your visit.

You may interact with the front desk staff, veterinary assistants, certified veterinary technicians, emergency doctors, specialty doctors, and administrative staff. You can rest assured that no matter who you speak with, they can answer your question or address your issue, or they can find someone who can.

The front desk staff is your best resource for answering your questions or finding someone who can. If you are here overnight, dial 180 on the lobby phone to speak with a staff member.

We request payments upfront in order to cover the operating costs of being a hospital that is open 24/7 to pets. Our costs can be higher than those found at your family veterinarian, but please keep in mind that we need to cover the operating costs of being open all day, every day, in order to treat emergencies.

We strive to be transparent about our fee structure and will update you on any costs that weren’t originally anticipated. No matter the situation, SOVSC provides the best possible options to ensure the best care for your pet.
