Southern Oregon Veterinary Specialty Center

Overview

When your pet has a medical concern that can’t wait for a routine appointment but isn’t a life-threatening emergency, our Urgent Care Center is here to bridge the gap. We provide efficient, compassionate care for common but concerning health issues, ensuring your pet gets the relief they need without the waiting of a traditional emergency room.

Think of us as “convenient care” for your furry family members, offering high medical standards in a focused, outpatient daytime setting.

Hours of Operation

  • Thursday - Tuesday: 8:00am – 6:00pm

  • Closed on Wednesdays

Prompt, High-Quality Care for Non-Critical Needs

Our Urgent Care service is designed for pets requiring same-day, outpatient care. This means we focus on conditions that do not require surgery, intensive care, or overnight hospitalization.

If our team determines your pet’s condition is more serious than initially thought, we work closely with our on-site 24/7 emergency and specialty services to ensure a seamless transition to a higher level of care.

Please Note: To maintain our focus on urgent needs, we do not provide routine wellness services such as vaccinations, spaying/neutering, or preventative medications. While we do not perform routine dental prophylaxis (professional cleaning), we can provide immediate medical therapy for painful dental infections.

Common Conditions We Treat

We specialize in managing those “unexpected” issues that cause your pet discomfort, including:

  • Infections: Skin and ear infections, or red, infected eyes

  • Upset Stomach: Episodes of vomiting or diarrhea

  • Injuries: Minor lacerations (cuts), broken toenails, and porcupine quill or cheat grass removal

  • Urinary Issues: Blood in the urine or abnormal urination patterns

  • Pain & Mobility: Back pain, limping, or mild orthopedic injuries

  • Respiratory: Coughing or sneezing while maintaining normal breathing

  • General Malaise: Sudden lethargy or acting “off”

No Appointment Needed

Appointments are not required, and walk-ins are always welcome. However, calling ahead is appreciated as it helps us prepare for your arrival.

Preparation Tips

  • Records: Please bring any recent medical records, test results, or a list of your pet’s current medications

  • Medical History: If you call ahead, we can proactively contact your family veterinarian to request your pet’s history

  • Fasting: If you suspect your pet may need a procedure requiring sedation (like wound repair), please arrive with your pet on an empty stomach if possible

What to Expect After Check-In

  • Comprehensive Examination: A thorough physical evaluation by our veterinary team

  • Diagnostics & Treatment: We will perform necessary testing and initiate treatment to help your pet feel better immediately

  • Communication & Planning: We will discuss your pet’s diagnosis, provide clear home care instructions, and coordinate any necessary referrals for advanced care

  • Seamless Coordination: We handle payment and insurance coordination on-site to respect your time and peace of mind

Please Note: Medications provided during your visit are for immediate stabilization. All long-term refills and chronic management will be transitioned back to your primary care veterinarian.
