Southern Oregon Veterinary Specialty Center

Pharmacy
Overview
At Southern Oregon Veterinary Specialty Center (SOVSC), our in-house pharmacy is dedicated to providing the precise medications your pet needs, whether they are facing a sudden medical crisis or managing a complex, long-term condition. We work in close coordination with our board-certified specialists and emergency clinicians to ensure that every prescription is handled with the highest level of expertise and accuracy.

Emergency and Urgent Care Medications
When your pet is seen through our Emergency or Urgent Care services, our pharmacy focuses on treating acute (sudden and severe) conditions.
Initial Treatment: We provide a sufficient supply of medication to address the immediate emergency
Transitioning to Long-Term Care: If your pet is diagnosed with a condition that requires ongoing management beyond our initial supply of medications, we ask that you follow up with your primary care veterinarian. They will be responsible for all future refills and the necessary long-term monitoring to ensure your pet stays healthy.
Please Note: Medications provided during your visit are for immediate stabilization. All long-term refills and chronic management will be transitioned back to your primary care veterinarian.

Specialty Service Refills (Surgery & Internal Medicine)
For patients under the ongoing care of our Internal Medicine or Surgery specialists, we are happy to assist with medication needs as outlined in your specialist treatment plan.
72-Hour Notice Required: To ensure accuracy and clinical review, please allow a minimum of 72 hours’ notice for all refill requests
Clinical Review for Safety: Refills are provided at the discretion of the attending veterinarian. To guarantee the medication remains safe and effective for your pet, we may require a recheck appointment or updated lab work before authorizing a refill
Urgent Requests: While we strive to accommodate our families, requests made with less than 72 hours’ notice may be subject to additional urgent handling fees
