SOVSC and your Primary Veterinarian

Southern Oregon Veterinary Specialty Center is a referral based, surgery and emergency care animal hospital. We encourage you to form a relationship with a primary care veterinarian in your area. A primary care veterinarian for your pet is similar to your own primary care doctor. Preventative care is important and there are many issues and illnesses that your primary care veterinarian can identify and treat. However, there are times that they do not have the advanced skills or the tools necessary to treat your pet. That’s where we come in.

We have advance imaging capabilities, as well as the tools and board certified veterinary specialists for advanced surgery needs. Our specialists also provide allergy testing, dermatology, and internal medicine diagnosis and treatment. These are areas that are often unavailable from your primary veterinarian. We work with your veterinarian, through a referral system, so you can bring your pet to us.

If your veterinarian has referred you and your pet for consult with one of our surgical, critical care, internal medicine or dermatology specialists, please call between 8am and 5pm on weekdays and one of our team liaisons will schedule a consultation appointment for you.

SOVSC accepts patients with a medical emergency, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, without a veterinary referral.
